Fitness and Skin!
Pacific Coast Dermatology and Wellness center is dedicated to helping our patients achieve healthy skin, and well being. Our health and fitness coach, Satish Panchal, is a vital addition to our team in helping and encouraging our patients to live a healthier lifestyle. His knowledge and passion for fitness continuously inspires us and our patients in achieving this goal.
Many may ask “what does fitness have to do with skincare?” It has everything to do with keeping your skin healthy!
Exercise increases blood flow to nourish skin cells. As blood circulates throughout the body, it provides oxygen to cells, and filters waste. With increased blood flow, necessary nutrients are provided to our skin, allowing cells to repair and rejuvenate to maintain skin health. This increase in blood flow also aids in the production of collagen. Collagen, a protein found in our skin, is responsible for its elasticity. Promoting the production of collagen aids in the reduction and prevention of wrinkles. Exercising increases blood flow to our skin.
Exercise also aids in decreasing stress. The main hormone released with stress is cortisol. When we are stressed this hormone, cortisol, can cause a variety of breakouts in the skin, ranging from acne to eczema. When we exercise, cortisol levels in the body decrease.
It is not always easy to jump into a new lifestyle; this is why Satish is an essential addition to our team. He provides our patients with the right tools needed towards enhancing their well-being. He also provides individualized plans to fit every patient's needs.
Always remember to wear sunblock with SPF 30 or higher when exercising outdoors, and remember to stay well hydrated. Our skin is the largest organ in our body. It is important to maintain it with a healthy diet and exercise regimen, so we always utilize the many benefits it provides us.
